For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been posting a brand new music video every Monday, all during the month of April. So excited (!), another perk of staying in touch via my e-mail updates. But these aren’t just ordinary flip cam videos, I decided to team up with my favorite production team at Jive Turkey Productions to create a 3-part live video series called the “Candlelight Acoustic Sessions:”
Today marks the release of the last video of the trilogy. Check out the videos I’ve posted thus far:
Last week I returned from a two-week 3,000 mile journey around the US Southeast. It was really exciting to play every day, meet so many new faces + lots of fun, spontaneous moments. In all, I visited Clemson, Columbia, Murphy, Greensboro, Richmond, Fredericksburg, Awendaw, Atlanta, and Tullahoma.
Here are some select moments of fun (in no particular order of awesomeness)
My talented cousin Emily Brodkin was able to join me for my show in Atlanta at Smith’s Olde Bar. Such an amazing night with a wonderful crowd (I’m not even from Atlanta, thank you for coming!). Here’s a clip of a brand new song I shared at the show:
Had a fantastic time in Fredricksburg, VA, what a quaint city! So much history, reminded me a lot of Charleston, SC where I’ve spent a lot of my writing and recording days. I played for the students at the University of Mary Washington, who are all really fantastic people to play for, as an acoustic artist. It’s rare you get to play for an audience of students who listen to and appreciate the lyrics. Thanks so much for hosting me guys, such a great time meeting you.
I even made a special new fan at that show :)
I also had some pretty awesome sound people for my show in Richmond, which went a little different than planned - playing on world music night instead of singer-songwriter night, oops ;) - had a great time:
What a great trip. Working on summer dates…hope to share those with you soon and hope to see you then!
Alright folks, tonight I’m hitting the road! Got my oil changed, packed all the instruments, merch, clothes, and lotsss of cereal :) I’m ready for you!
So Clemson, you’re up first! TOMORROW night I’ll be playing at Moe Joe’s, 8 p.m. and it’s a free show. My friend Zach DuBois will be opening the evening and then I will try to loop as many instruments as possible while singing when it’s my turn.
If you’re in Columbia, pick up a copy of this weeks Free-Times to read these kind words about the show on Friday. Remember, it’s a full-band show, tickets are only $5 for students and $10 for non-students. Only 90 seats, grab your tickets in advance while they’re still left:
“Friday 24
Haley Dreis — On Twitter, Haley Dreis is gleefully tweeting about making her way back to Columbia as a headliner. The University of South Carolina grad has been in Nashville, plotting a DIY path to success, all while touring across the Southeast with her own brand of exuberant pop. But Dreis is not your typical vacuous bubble-gum princess. Part of her charm lies in youth and romanticism, but it’s her songwriting prowess and first-rate violin chops that blow audiences away. Beneath the big smile and sunny disposition is a woman who has found her voice, an unassuming talent with a bright future. S. Till
Conundrum Music Hall: 7 p.m.; $10 ($5 students); 250-1295; conundrum.us.”
Last month I had the pleasure of playing violin for Kirk Franklin at the Stellar Music Awards at the Grand Ole Opry. It was so much fun! In case you were wondering how it went, a clip of the show has been posted. I’m in the right section, front row on the left :)
